This year, Chris and I have decided to make our Christmas gifts.

I love gift giving. It’s a way of investing time, thought and energy into others – which I believe is special for both the giver and receiver.  It’s one of my favourite parts of Christmas. At the same time, I find the idea that you have to buy gifts, stress over what to give, spend a lot of money, obligation / expectation aspects of Christmas really difficult.

So we’re keeping it simple. Little gifts to remind others that they mean something to us.

The question was…. how to package them?!

Funnily enough – my friend came up with the same idea as us… Noodle boxes!

I LOVE noodle boxes. I think they are so cute! For some reason, whenever I see them I think of Gilmore Girls. And they give me warm fuzzies.

So Tess collected a stack of 50 mini boxes from Moore Wilson’s cheap as chips- and dropped half off to us.

They were perfect…. although, not very Christmassy….

So I’ve done them up a tad.

After some hunting online, I found some gorgeous wee free printables. You can find them here and here

I cut them out…

So cute!

I just LOVE my craft cutter

and used a gluestick to stick them on two sides of the noodle boxes…

and Voila!  Cute packaging for little Christmas gifts 🙂

I love them

So how bout you guys? Any cute packaging ideas to share?!

Amazing gift!

I have two friends that have recently wowed me, and I just want to share.

Chris and my birthdays are 2 months apart – so on Chris’ birthday, we received an email with our combined present attached! See the link below for what they put together for us – I have their permission to share it.

Fords Restaurant

What an incredibly creative, fun and pampering gift!

This is by far one of the best gifts we’ve received. We had such fun picking out our menu together and I’m am already anticipating our dinner – which is arriving tonight! Our days of eating out seem so far ago – and so this is such a treat.

This is a brilliant gift for us – with a wee one year old and on a low income. It’s personal and tailored just for us and we are truely wowed.

Cheers to good friends!

but I love it anyway!

For a long time I’ve been wanting to buy a customised print of Mikey’s birth details to feature as art in his bedroom. I’ve seen all sorts of different versions around on the net – like here and here.

Problem is, they cost quite a bit – and we are desperately scrimping these days. So, I decided to make one myself as a temporary solution until I can buy him a nicer one!

I played around with different fonts and colours on Microsoft Word with Micah’s birth details – and then printed it out in colour…

I removed the current matting from a white picture frame – and Chris helped me measure up some matching cardstock to back my wee poster.

Didn’t take me long – and I think it looks quite good! I’d like to play with it some more, and make it a little more us – but in the meantime, I’m loving it.

It’s definitely not perfect though! It’s a tiny bit crooked, and because it’s on thin paper the cardstock behind it makes it a little bit gray… plus see if you can spot the little oddity!
